Scientist suggest that for every single grain of sand on our planet, there could be roughly 10,000 stars in the universe. The scale of that is almost impossible to comprehend. Sitting with that thought, I began imagining what kinds of life might be thriving on worlds circling those distant stars…

Tool: Midjourney + Magnific + Runway + Photoshop | V3 2022 + V6 2023

Midjourney Model V3 | 2022

The difference between these early Midjourney generations captures how quickly the medium was evolving. With V3, I was working with ambiguity—the model could suggest extraordinary organic forms, but anatomy, materials, and spatial relationships often dissolved into beautiful visual accidents.

Midjourney Model V6 | 2023

This was the point where generative imaging started moving beyond image-making and toward something closer to speculative design: a way to visualize organisms, materials, and structures I could imagine conceptually, but could never have fully pictured on my own.

By V6, those same explorations could become far more resolved. Membranes gained thickness, surfaces became tactile, light interacted more convincingly with materials, and complex forms began to maintain their own internal logic.
